#27 - The Heat Beneath the Surface

Hi Greensters,

🌊 The oceans are quietly breaking records. In 2025, they absorbed more heat than ever measured - a clear signal of how much energy the planet is now storing beneath the surface.

🌪️ That heat doesn’t stay in the water. It feeds stronger storms, heavier rainfall, rising seas, and mounting stress on marine ecosystems worldwide.

🥖 We end on something grounding. A warm winter flatbread with whipped white beans and roasted seasonal vegetables - proof that climate-friendly choices can still be deeply comforting.

🥗 The Green Meal

🥬 White beans are a quiet climate hero: packed with protein and fiber, they have a fraction of the carbon footprint of meat and dairy. When whipped, they become luxuriously creamy - no cream required.

🥕 Roasted winter vegetables like squash, carrots, and Brussels sprouts are in-season, long-storing crops that require fewer resources to grow and transport during colder months.

♻️ Eco Tip

Awareness: 🐟
Large predatory fish like tuna, salmon, and swordfish sit at the top of the food chain. They grow slowly, need more food to survive, and are especially vulnerable as warming oceans disrupt ecosystems and food availability.

Action: 🌊
If you eat seafood, opt for small, fast-growing species like mussels, sardines, or herring - or plant-based alternatives. These species require fewer resources, have a much lower climate footprint, and recover faster in changing ocean conditions.
