#3 - Super Pollutants
For decades, scientists have been sounding the alarm about super pollutantsāpowerful greenhouse gases that heat the planet way faster than COā. The problem? Their levels are still climbing!
The good news is that, unlike COā, they donāt stay in our atmosphere for centuriesācutting them now can cool the planet fast.
So why are they still rising? And more importantlyāwhat can we do about it? This week, we break it downāwhatās driving the increase, whatās being done to fight it, and how you can help speed up the solution.
Highlights in this edition:
Super pollutants: Whatās being doneāand how you can help. šØ

šļø In the news
šØ Some super pollutants trap heat up to 1,500x more effectively than COā.
š Methane is the biggest concern, with levels hitting a record high in 2024.
ā¬ļø Letās explore why super pollutants are still rising, whatās being done to stop them, and how we can help.
š„ What to eat
Food for thought:
š 60% of global biodiversity loss is linked to meat productionāforests and ecosystems are being cleared to make room for livestock and animal feed.
šØ Beef production emits nearly 10 times more COā per calorie than plant-based foods.
š½ļø Shifting to a plant-forward diet could reduce food-related emissions by up to 70% by 2050.
Every meal shapes our futureāwhy not try a sustainable one? š±ā»ļø
ā»ļø Eco Tip
Awareness: šØ Food waste in landfills remains a massive problemāeven in developed countries!!. When food scraps break down in landfills without oxygen, they release methane, a powerful greenhouse gas.
A single banana peel can emit methane for years as it slowly decomposes! Food waste accounts for nearly 60% of landfill methane emissions in some regions, making it one of the biggest contributors to climate change.
Action: š½ļø Itās crucial to sort or compost your food waste! If home composting isnāt an option or your city doensāt sort food waste, check if your municipality offers food waste collection or community composting programs. Even small actionsālike using a countertop compost bin or freezing food scraps until disposalācan help cut methane emissions and turn waste into valuable soil and energy! ā»ļøš
š Eco-Challenge
Be the first to post a photo of your Eco-Challenge on Facebook, and weāll plant 2 xš³ just for you!
The Eco-Challenges are here to help us build real sustainable habits. Hereās how to make them stick:
ā Commit ā That little voice saying, "This wonāt make a difference"? Ignore it. When enough of us commit, the impact is huge.
š Plan ā Some challenges might feel like too much work at first, but with a little planning, they will easily fit into your daily routine.
šÆ Execute ā Try it once. Then again. Before you know it, youāve built a sustainable habit that sticks.
